Earlier this month, a group from the PBT Auckland team headed out to Ardmore School to lend a hand at one of Oke's legendary working bees. In just one day, we helped transform a blank space into a fully functioning outdoor classroom. A place where tamariki can get their hands dirty, grow their own kai, and develop essential life and social skills.
We were stoked to roll up our sleeves alongside the Oke team, the school, and a bunch of passionate volunteers to help bring the Ardmore School garden to life.
This mahi is part of Oke’s Growing a Future initiative, which gives kids, teachers, and the wider community the tools to learn, thrive and grow. Each garden includes raised beds, a tunnelhouse, composting solutions, fruit trees, irrigation, and tools for both students and staff - everything needed to keep it growing for years to come. Every build powered by local volunteers and partners.
As part of our support, PBT also provided freight for a tunnel house, which we had the pleasure of helping build on site. It was a fantastic experience to see the project come together from freight to final setup.
For us, it was a day of teamwork, connection, and plenty of dirt. It also tied in beautifully with the values that drive us at PBT.
A huge thanks to the team at Oke Charity for the work they do across Aotearoa. We're proud to contribute both our people and our network.
